I had been in KL for over a year and only found out now that the open source movement has also landed here!

When would be the next Sun Developer Days in Malaysia? Although am a PostgreSQL fan, was totally blown on your post regarding MySQL and LAMP stack powered systems here.

Anyway, great blog. Rock on!

Hi Col, what I would suggest is covering MySQL at the 10,000 feet level. not too detailed but enough to get them engaged and excited about MySQL. My thoughts below:

*Who are MYSQL (including sun)
*what we offer (robust db from single pc to enterprise yadda yadda)
*software is free from mysql.com
*recommend to use it with linux.(but will work under windows, implemented by major corps - IBM)
*plugins for developing robust online apps with (perl, php, ruby)
*applications of MySQL use (ecommerce, research, enterprise warehousing, BSS/OSS etc)
*repeat again - software is free from mysql.com dont forget certification from MySQL.
* show them that the use of MySQL will greatly enhance their skills and employability in the workforce.

hope that helps colin....
