{"id":1102,"date":"2008-10-20T23:43:36","date_gmt":"2008-10-21T04:43:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bytebot.net\/blog\/?p=1102"},"modified":"2008-10-21T03:29:40","modified_gmt":"2008-10-21T08:29:40","slug":"mysql-cfp-officially-ends-october-22","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bytebot.net\/blog\/archives\/2008\/10\/20\/mysql-cfp-officially-ends-october-22","title":{"rendered":"MySQL CfP officially ends October 22"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I think Giuseppe (the man with too many blogs!) was a little too <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.sun.com\/datacharmer\/entry\/mysql_users_conference_and_expo1\">optimistic<\/a> in his last post&#8230; the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.oreilly.com\/mysql2009\/public\/cfp\/38\">MySQL Conference Call for Participation<\/a> has received an amazing amount of proposals, but not enough by our standards.<\/p>\n<p>I personally believe there should be a 1:3 accepted-rejected ratio. Currently, its not there yet. Why do I like such high ratios? It means that there are actually so many good talks, and we (the voting committee) pick the <b>best of the best<\/b>, to give attendees the most mileage for their time and money. Or am I too harsh?<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the word on the street is that we will extend the Call for Participation, mostly because it is the right thing to do, and lots of people expect it. Expect an official announcement to go out soon about this.
