There are quite the few:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>For Dummies series\u2026 &#8220;A Reference for the rest of us&#8221; &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/For_Dummies\">wiki<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dummies.com\/\">site<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Teach Yourself series\u2026 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Teach_Yourself\">wiki<\/a> &#8211; guides in a week have arrived &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachyourself.com\/\">site<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Complete Idiot&#8217;s Guide series\u2026 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Complete_Idiot%27s_Guides\">wiki<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.idiotsguides.com\/\">site<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>O&#8217;Reilly has the Annoyances, Hacks, Head First, and Missing Manual (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Missing_Manual#Books\">wiki<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>What are other guides that are non-intimidating, distilling topics for people to grok?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apress.com\/\">Apress<\/a> calls their guides &#8220;for professionals by professionals&#8221; (technically oriented). <a href=\"http:\/\/www.packtpub.com\/\">Packt<\/a> has a huge amount of books on a variety of topics.<\/p>\n<p>Travel is a whole other ballgame. I visited Kinokuniya recently and saw shelves of travel guides.
