It&#8217;s clear that MariaDB&#8217;s role is in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bytebot.net\/blog\/archives\/2013\/06\/07\/mariadb-in-red-hat-software-collections\">Software Collections<\/a>, which is new in RHEL.<\/p>\n<p>Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols writes\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/red-hat-will-switch-from-oracle-mysql-to-mariadb-reports-7000017907\/\">Red Hat will switch from Oracle MySQL to MariaDB, reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sean Michael Kerner has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.serverwatch.com\/server-news\/red-hat-mariadb-and-enterprise-linux-video.html\">video<\/a>\u00a0(and writeup)\u00a0with Denise Dumas, RHEL team leader, who talks about Software Collections, MariaDB, and how we&#8217;re all friendly (Red Hat + SkySQL + MariaDB). There will be 3 years of support for Software Collections. Indemnification applies as always, its just support cycle per collection is reduced. New MySQL ships in Software Collections too.
