{"id":2858,"date":"2014-01-23T20:43:05","date_gmt":"2014-01-24T01:43:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bytebot.net\/blog\/?p=2858"},"modified":"2014-01-23T20:43:05","modified_gmt":"2014-01-24T01:43:05","slug":"itunes-ate-my-podcasts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bytebot.net\/blog\/archives\/2014\/01\/23\/itunes-ate-my-podcasts","title":{"rendered":"iTunes ate my podcasts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>iTunes is fixed now (11.1.3) but somewhere <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bytebot.net\/blog\/archives\/2013\/09\/25\/some-apple-upgrades-that-im-not-enjoying\">in-between<\/a> it broke and <a href=\"https:\/\/discussions.apple.com\/message\/23131176#23131176\">deleted<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/3019578\/fast-feed\/warning-itunes-111-update-can-delete-library-if-you-subscribe-to-podcasts\">all<\/a> of my podcast downloads as well as the subscriptions. It has been over four months that I&#8217;ve gone without listening to podcasts and I can&#8217;t say that I miss it hugely. Audiobooks (on phone, in gym particularly), Spotify and Rdio have taken its place.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This means a lot to me &#8211; I always thought that podcasting could be big business. Maybe its just niche business?<\/p>\n<p>Apple engineering needs to QA this stuff. It&#8217;s not hard. There should be test harnesses. Heck, just testing the damn upgrade.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In other news, the up arrow key seems dodgy again on my Macbook Air. It is still only 11 months old and this is the second time its happening. I will have to find time to walk into an Apple Store to get an immediate replacement (something we can&#8217;t do in Malaysia\/Singapore obviously).<\/p>\n<p>Overall feeling on the Apple experience in these terms: relatively negative. Am I going to give up their stuff?
