{"id":3040,"date":"2015-01-18T09:45:09","date_gmt":"2015-01-18T14:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bytebot.net\/blog\/?p=3040"},"modified":"2015-01-18T23:12:15","modified_gmt":"2015-01-19T04:12:15","slug":"bitcoin-in-malaysia-january-2015-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bytebot.net\/blog\/archives\/2015\/01\/18\/bitcoin-in-malaysia-january-2015-edition","title":{"rendered":"Bitcoin in Malaysia &#8211; January 2015 edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is more for me, rather than anyone else (just like everything here), but its worth keeping track of the Bitcoin scene in Malaysia (at a time when Bitcoin is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclearmarkets.com\/articles\/2015\/01\/16\/amid_bitcoins_bloodbath_silence_from_silicon_valley_press_101490.html?utm_content=bufferf62ed&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_campaign=buffer\">tanking<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>For Bitcoin news, its <a href=\"http:\/\/bitcoinmalaysia.com\/\">Bitcoin Malaysia<\/a> &#8211; its no <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/\">CoinDesk<\/a>, but the founder, Colbert Lau, does evangelise Bitcoin quite a lot. It is from there, I <a href=\"http:\/\/bitcoinmalaysia.com\/2014\/08\/23\/interview-with-reuben-yap-from-bolehvpn-and-geekzen\/\">learned<\/a> that BolehVPN, probably the most popular VPN service in Malaysia, accepts Bitcoin. Or that a <a href=\"http:\/\/bitcoinmalaysia.com\/2014\/08\/19\/1st-petrol-station-to-accept-bitcoin-btc-in-malaysia\/\">petrol station accepts Bitcoin<\/a> too.<\/p>\n<p>Then there are <a href=\"http:\/\/arsyan.com\/about\">Arsyan Ismail\u2019s<\/a> list of startups, notably a <a href=\"http:\/\/btc.my\/\">Bitcoin Exchange Malaysia<\/a>, ked.ai (a marketplace), cryptomarket.my (a market\/exchange). I\u2019m not sure what the focus of these companies are (many look like minimum viable products).<\/p>\n<p>Then what I think is the most interesting Bitcoin-related startup focusing on the blockchain? <a href=\"http:\/\/neuroware.io\/\">Neuroware<\/a> (disclosure: I have been talking a lot to one of the founders and may end up advising the company). They focus on blockchain technology, and keep track of Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Litecoin. They have <a href=\"http:\/\/blockchains.io\/\">blockchains.io<\/a> (similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/blockchain.info\/\">Blockchain.info<\/a>\u00a0but opensource). They also have their main product: <a href=\"http:\/\/blockstrap.com\/\">blockstrap<\/a> \u2013 a HTML5 framework, also opensource. There are some good articles at Digital News Asia:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.digitalnewsasia.com\/sizzle-fizzle\/neuroware-new-bit-on-the-blockchain\">Neuroware: New bit on the blockchain<\/a> and Coindesk:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/neuroware-launches-future-proof-api-cryptocurrency-apps\/\">Neuroware Launches \u2018Future-Proof&#8217; API for Cryptocurrency Apps<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Will we see more people accept Bitcoin? Will there be Bitcoin ATMs (there was one in Bangsar Shopping Centre but it has since closed)?
