Look at all the interesting polls, and see where the community come from!<\/li>\n<li>I was doing a search on &#8220;migrate from Postgresql to MySQL&#8221; on Google, and all I seemed to have found in general were sites that showed how to do it the other way around!<\/li>\n<li>mytop is great. RPM distributions have <code>\/var\/run\/mysqld\/mysqld.sock<\/code>, but it is located at <code>\/tmp\/mysqld.sock<\/code> if it comes out of the tarball. Run it as <code>mytop -S \/tmp\/mysqld.sock<\/code> if you&#8217;ve installed it from the tarball.<\/li>\n<li>Seeing: <code>Starting MySQL * Couldn't find MySQL manager or server<\/code> as an error? Suggest you look at <code>\/etc\/my.cnf<\/code>, under <code>[mysql.server]<\/code>, comment out (#) the <code>basedir=\/var\/lib<\/code> and like magic, things should work again.<\/li>\n<li>Looking for Powered by MySQL logos? Give it a read.<\/li>\n<li>Talked to Gafton about <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.conary.com\/index.php\/gafton\/2005\/12\/16\/new_postgresql_package\">Conary&#8217;s new PostgreSQL package<\/a> and skirted around the idea of using versioned data directories for MySQL; he said it was generally unnecessary as between upgrades MySQL doesn&#8217;t break tables.
