Its got a bit of interesting history, and thoughts about the future. There&#8217;s also some interesting photography.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook is now at <a href=\"http:\/\/news.cnet.com\/8301-13577_3-10134266-36.html\">150 million users<\/a>. They grew quite a bit recently, it was just 140 million about a month or two ago.<\/p>\n<p>Flickr has seen traffic reaching <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/allspaw\/status\/1084913550\">ten terabytes<\/a>. As you know, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bytebot.net\/blog\/archives\/2007\/04\/25\/federation-at-flickr-a-tour-of-the-flickr-architecture\">Flickr runs MySQL<\/a>, and they make use of InnoDB. Recently, Chief Operations Officer, John Allspaw, showed how <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/allspaw\/3174500698\/in\/pool-webopsviz\">fragmented<\/a> one of their databases was. Reminds us all, that running <tt>optimize<\/tt> from time to time, is useful. Flickr is also <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/allspaw\/statuses\/1102522188\">using<\/a> MySQL 5.0.51 currently.<\/p>\n<p>Flickr make extensive use of Ganglia. I found that there are <a href=\"http:\/\/g.raphaelli.com\/2009\/1\/5\/ganglia-mysql-metrics\">Ganglia graphs for MySQL metrics<\/a> available now.
