It was a <a href=\"http:\/\/kb.askmonty.org\/en\/mariadb-versus-mysql-features\/\">feature differentiation to MySQL<\/a> as we shipped another storage engine. It was included in MariaDB 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3; however with our release of <a href=\"http:\/\/kb.askmonty.org\/en\/what-is-mariadb-55\/\">MariaDB 5.5<\/a>, PBXT (<a href=\"http:\/\/kb.askmonty.org\/en\/pbxt-storage-engine\/\">docs in the Knowledgebase<\/a>) has been deprecated and not built by default any longer.<\/p>\n<p>The reason behind it is clear: <a href=\"https:\/\/lists.launchpad.net\/pbxt-discuss\/msg00134.html\">PBXT is currently not under active development<\/a>. We still include it in the source releases and if you would like to use it, you just have to <a href=\"http:\/\/kb.askmonty.org\/en\/how-to-build-pbxt\/\">build it<\/a>. If and when development around it comes back to an active state with bugs being fixed and the engine being pushed forward, I&#8217;m sure we&#8217;ll start building it again.
