Only in 10.0.9 RC did the default switch back to being XtraDB. As MariaDB users previously know, XtraDB was the default InnoDB in 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, and 5.5 too. As always, you can switch easily between InnoDB\/XtraDB &#8211; read more in: <a href=\"https:\/\/mariadb.com\/kb\/en\/using-innodb-instead-of-xtradb\/\">Using InnoDB instead of XtraDB<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>How do you tell what version of InnoDB or XtraDB you are running? I can only point this to merge oddities. <tt>storage\/innobase\/include\/univ.i<\/tt> is the file which contains common definitions such as I<tt>NNODB_VERSION_MAJOR<\/tt>, <tt>INNODB_VERSION_MINOR<\/tt> and <tt>INNODB_VERSION_BUGFIX<\/tt>. <tt>INNODB_VERSION_BUGFIX<\/tt> in 10.0.6 pointed to <tt>MYSQL_VERSION_PATCH<\/tt> which you get from the <tt>VERSION<\/tt> file. For XtraDB, you will also see <tt>PERCONA_INNODB_VERSION<\/tt> in <tt>univ.i<\/tt>.<\/p>\n<p>So, when XtraDB is the default (10.0.9 and 10.0.10 and releases going forward) you can put in my.cnf to load InnoDB:<\/p>\n<pre>ignore_builtin_innodb\nplugin_load=innodb=ha_innodb.so<\/pre>\n<p>When InnoDB is the default (10.0.8 and 10.0.7) and XtraDB was merged, you can put in my.cnf to load XtraDB:<\/p>\n<pre>ignore_builtin_innodb\nplugin_load=innodb=ha_xtradb.so<\/pre>\n<p>Percona Server only became GA with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.percona.com\/doc\/percona-server\/5.6\/release-notes\/Percona-Server-5.6.13-61.0.html\">5.6.13-61.0<\/a> which was 7 Oct 2013 which explains why the MariaDB 10.0.6 beta didn\u2019t include a XtraDB.<\/p>\n<p>Percona Server only ships XtraDB (source code in <tt>storage\/innobase<\/tt>) while MariaDB ships both InnoDB (<tt>storage\/innobase<\/tt>) as well as XtraDB (<tt>storage\/xtradb<\/tt>).<\/p>\n<p>If you want older release information about InnoDB plugin versions, a great resource is Chris Calendar\u2019s blog post: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chriscalender.com\/?page_id=628\">InnoDB Plugin Versions<\/a>.
