It ships, just like <a href=\"http:\/\/centos.org\/\">CentOS<\/a> 7, <a href=\"https:\/\/mariadb.com\/kb\/en\/mariadb\/what-is-mariadb-55\/\">MariaDB Server 5.5<\/a>. Presumably, this means that MariaDB is now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oracle.com\/us\/technologies\/linux\/support\/overview\/index.html\">supported<\/a> by Oracle, too ;-) [jokes aside,\u00a0<strong>It\u2019s likely because OEL7 is meant to be 100% compatible to RHEL7<\/strong>]<\/p>\n<p><center><a title=\"OEL7__Running_ by Colin Charles, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/byte\/15217574770\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3844\/15217574770_e7ffc49524_n.jpg?resize=320%2C233&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"OEL7__Running_\" width=\"320\" height=\"233\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The only reason I mention this now is Vadim Tkachenko, probably got his most <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VadimTk\/status\/516811049975033856\">retweeted tweet<\/a> recently, stating just that. If you want to upgrade to <a href=\"https:\/\/mariadb.com\/kb\/en\/mariadb\/what-is-mariadb-100\/\">MariaDB 10<\/a>, don\u2019t forget that the <a href=\"https:\/\/downloads.mariadb.org\/mariadb\/repositories\/#mirror=kaist\">repository download tool<\/a> provides CentOS 7 binaries, which should \u201cjust work\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to switch to MySQL, there is a <a href=\"http:\/\/dev.mysql.com\/downloads\/repo\/yum\/\">Public Yum repository<\/a> that MySQL provides (and also don\u2019t forget to check the Extras directory of the full installation &#8211; from OEL7 docs sub-titled: <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.oracle.com\/cd\/E52668_01\/E53499\/html\/ol7-features-changes.html#section_onz_zfn_p4\">MySQL Community and MariaDB Packages<\/a>). Be sure to read the MySQL docs about <a href=\"http:\/\/dev.mysql.com\/doc\/mysql-yum-repo-quick-guide\/en\/\">using the Yum repository<\/a>.
