You can &#8211; MySQL has just been accepted into the Summer of Code 2008.<\/p>\n<p>We have an <a href=\"http:\/\/forge.mysql.com\/wiki\/SummerOfCode2008Ideas\">ideas<\/a> page (watch it closely, there will be many changes in the coming weeks), we also have a <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.mysql.com\/soc\">mailing list<\/a> (subscribe to it, and discuss with potential mentors), and now, all we want are plenty of students!<\/p>\n<p>This should also be a note, that its a call for mentors. Last year, we had <a href=\"http:\/\/pbxt.blogspot.com\/\">Paul McCullagh<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/sheeri.com\/\">Sheeri Kritzer Cabral<\/a>, mentor projects from outside MySQL, and it was great. Participation from the community, will simply rock.<\/p>\n<p>My advise? Note the <a href=\"http:\/\/code.google.com\/opensource\/gsoc\/2008\/faqs.html#0.1_timeline\"><b>timeline<\/b><\/a>, <i>closely<\/i>. Students: April 1, 2008, 00:00 UTC is your deadline. Mentors, you need to be paired up with your students by April 11, 07:00 UTC.
