EveryDNS

I have always recommended the use of OpenDNS, and of late, I’ve decided to stop having to dabble with DNS (in general), and use EveryDNS. For the uninitiated, they both have David Ulevitch in common.

There’s a web interface, its not as simple as tinydns, but it gets the job done. For free, you can host 20 domains, and 200 records (CNAME, MX, etc.). I don’t think I’ll be exceeding that limit anytime soon, but I think its time to make a donation.

Nothing but satisfaction, in the last few weeks of use. One service less to maintain. Anyone else use EveryDNS and is really happy with their service?

One extremely satisfied EveryDNS user here. Even donated 15 bucks to the cause. I remember one day they had some kind of DoS attack, which knocked out the DNS for a few hours, but apart from that, there has been absolutely 0 downtime.

    Extremely happy with the service.

yes, i’ve been using Everydns for ssome time now. Really great stuff. Previously was on ZoneEdit, but I think Everydns does a better job as a free service, and also not overtly technical like Xname.

XName is more “hardcore DNS” , and also optionally comes with an opensource (sic!) version jsut in case u want to implement it on ur own servers. The ones u can insstall on ur pc has the DNS system powered by PHP & mysql(!) . ONly downside to this is that the package has not been updated in quite a while. So using it is a risk especially with the recent DNS exploits and all…
